New Paint Scheme, old look

So I just couldnt live with the baby blue scheme I had and decided to change it up. Going with a grey-grey scheme.

Still have to finish the bases, shoulder markings, etc, but they are playable and will look good in a group. The scheme is also meant to get my models painted faster so I will have a force to be reckoned with!

First up, a red headed Grey Hunter

Secondly, a Grey Hunter with MotW (or, atleast how I currently am representing it)

and thirdly, a Wolf Priest I made from bits

Let me know what ya think!

In Game Achievements!

Hey all, first off, I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Secondly, I am not dead, just had to take a break from the hobby. And thirdly, the topic for this posting! Achievements!

Our friend Skarvald the Troll-faced from the B&C and blogger (http://wolvesforthewolfgod.blogspot.com/) has taken the time and come up with an awesome system of Achievements that us Wolf Players can attempt to earn while playing. Here are a few of my favourites:

Do You Want Wolves with That? - Win a game of Warhammer 40,000 with a Codex: Space Wolves list that only has units, optional equipment and wargear with the the word "wolf" or a variation of the word "wolf" in it. For example: Canis Wolfborn; Fenrisian Wolf/Cyberwolf; Lone Wolf; Wolf Guard; Wolf Lord; Wolf Priest; Wolf Scout; Thunderwolves; wolf claw; Mark of the Wulfen, etc.

There Are No Books on Fenris - Win a game of Warhammer 40,000 against Codex: Space Marines.

Team Jacob - Win a game of Warhammer 40,000 against Codex: Blood Angels.

What Are You Gonna Do? Bleed on Me? - Win a game of Warhammer 40,000 against Codex: Black Templars.

MC Hammer - Lower a Monstrous Creature or an Independent Character's Initiative by throwing Arjac Rockfist's Foehammer at them and then swallow them with Jaws of the World Wolf.

It's going to be LEGEN-wait for it-DARY! - Using Logan Grimnar's Living Legend special rule, grant +1 Attack to all friendly models in your army.

The Lost Vikings - In a Seize Ground mission, win the game with three Lone Wolves contesting three different objectives.

Be sure to check out the WHOLE list of Wolfy achievements over at his blog and see if you cant enhance your games! I know I will!

Story Batrep time! Sunday Game against Daemons!

On a cold Fenrisian night, Rune Priest Torvald, of the Great Company of Thorimir Kingslayer, made his way to
one of the great taverns of the mighty Fang. As he made his way into the drinking hall, all around quickly
hushed as the old Rune Priest made his way to one of the fire pits to warm his hands. He noticed all eyes in
the room glued to him and smiled.
"So, I suppose you all want to hear a tale, eh?"
The hall erupted in roars of approval from old greybeards and young pups alike.
"All right then young pups, gather around as I recall the tale of the defence of Galvan Prime."
Many in the hall began to group around the Rune Priest, pushing and shoving to get close enough to hear the
tale. After everyone in the hall settled in around the Priest, a greybeard handed the old man a pint of ale
and he took a long sip of the tankard. After he set it down, he began to recall the images in his head.
"It was a dark and dreary day for Galvan Prime. Chaos had tainted the planet and called up to its gods for aid.
They answered. The planets sky swirled in colors of purples, blacks, reds, and colors that had no name and
couldnt be discribed. And then they came. Dameons and horrors of unimaginable terror and fright. Mighty
Daemon Prince and daemonic plauge-lings. And we fought them with everything we had.
Before they came, Chaos had infiltrated the planet and corrupted many of its inhabitants. Myself and the
company of Thorimir Kingslayer were stationed in the capital city of Galvan Hive to protect its Manufactorums
along with a company of Ultramarines and Blood Angels.
My kinsmen and I were stationed with holding the center of the city with its attena array capable of sending
messages deep through space. The Blood Angels were tasked with holding the port and it's surrounding factories
and the Ultramarines guarding the others.
They Daemons came from the sky. Multi colored lightning bolts and bright flashes struck down from the sky and
mobs of Daemons emerged from where they struck. We were initially hit by plauge bearers, ugly creatures, slow
and tough, able to withstand wounds that would fell a Kraken twice over. There were juggernauts aswell, with
evil bloodletters riding their backs like some calvary force of old. Flesh-hounds and daemonettes also arrived
aswell as a Daemon Prince. We took many casuualties in the first wave as they landed, but we soon regrouped
and gave them the bolter and chainsword. I and the two long fang packs I was with focused our heavy weapons
fire on the biggest of them, knocking them down, one by one as the grey hunters engaged the smaller units.
But the real Saga of the day lies with Grimnar's own champion, Arjac Rockfist!"
Many in the hall roared their approval again, lifting steins and knocking them back.
"Aye, Arjac was their, with old Harald Grimtotem, Wolf Priest of the Great Company of Thorimir Kingslayer.
Together they rode with a pack of Wolf Guard in a Land Raider Crusader. They came to the aid of the grey hunters
already in combat and strode out to challenge the Daemons. In the course of the day, Arjac and old Grimtotem
claimed many daemons from Pink Horrors, Daemon Princes, Seekers, Fiends, Soulgrinders, and more.
But the day was not without its price, for many of our brothers fell. But we will not forget them or mourn their
loss, for they are with Russ and the Allfather now, and we will see them once again at the Wolftime!
Hail the victoriouse dead!"
"HAIL!" was the unified cry of the Hall as they once again knocked back their tankards.
"In the end, the city held, and the world was cleansed of Chaos."
Here are some pictures from the battle.

Vow Completed

So, I took a vow on the Space Wolves Sub Forum of the B&C (aka, the Fang) to complete my 5 man Wolf Scout squad with Melta Gun by August, and well, today I got to painting, and painting and painting, and then I realized I had finished them! Wow, if only I had this drive for the rest of my army! I may talk to the guy running the event and see if I can vow some more stuff just so it will get done! Now I know the bases are unfinished, but it will be a while before I can get to that. So, until then, they are done!

Also, way to go Boston for winning the Stanley Cup! That was my friend Daryl's favourite hockey team (now one of mine aswell) and I was glad to see them win it!

RIP Daryl Bugbee

So, as some of you may or may not know, my friend Daryl Bugbee passed away in February at the young age of 39, a week from his 40th B-day.

I have since been taking care of his lawn for his parents and today they let me have alot of Daryl's old models. The following are pictures of what I got today, and there is still more at his house.

Overview shot

Lots of Genestealers

This next stuff is Mutant Chronicles I believe

Space Marines

Other stuff

Not sure what I am going to do with this stuff, as none of it really fits with anything I have at the moment. I may end up selling some of it or something, I dont know.

Anyways, just thought I'd share with ya what was dropped in my lap today.

RIP Daryl Bugbee

Also, thanks to Night Runner for being my first Follower! Also, can anyone tell me how to comment in my own comment's section? Im Blogger iliterate and cant figure it out. >.>

Victory!

So the Space Wolves achieved their first table top victory this past Sunday with the help of the Ultra Angels agains the foul Daemons and Necrons!

We played a 2v2, Imperium vs Non Imperium game this weekend with 3000pts a side. My deathstar list did fairly well.

Here is a quick recap of things that happened.

Necrons were spread thin across their deployment as the Daemons have to deep strike. A monolith, and Necron Elites (Pariahs?) stood against the Ultra Angels while the deadly Nightbringer and lots of warriors stood against my small force of Space Wolves.

We rolled up 4 objectives and placed them across the board. (Using my awesome Ale barrels! :P)

So basically, I rolled my LRC right up to the Nightbringer's face and let loose with Arjac, Wolf Priest and Wolf Guard while the Rune Priest tried to Jaws the Nightbringer. He failed, but managed to kill 3 warriors before attracting alot of fire and dying right out. Poor bugger.

Arjac and friends however pressed on and assaulted the Nightbringer. However, on my part I didnt realise over half the unit couldnt even wound him, >.>.

After two turns of combat, Arjac, 1 Wolf Guard, and the Wolf priest emerged victorious. They then wiped a squad of Daemons (manta rays?) and then Arjac and the Wolf Guard fell to Necron Fire.

Meanwhile back in our deployment zone, my two grey hunter packs sat eagerly awaiting Daemons as they deepstruck to their doom.

On the other side of the board my partners Ultra Angels were doing a fair bit against Daemons and Necrons alike.

After Arjac fell to Necron Warrior Fire, my Wolf Priest hopped back inside his LR and with the help of a Grey Hunter squad and a tac squad from the Ultra Angels, the Necrons were soon punished and effectively phased out.

At this point the Daemons were still coming in piecemeal and dying quickly.

The Imperium stood victorious!

So, today I play my first official game on table top with my Space Wolves. Since I havent gotten my Thunderwolves yet or my order from GW and FW for some stuff, I got to looking at what I had and what I could make from leftovers from my first (failed) Space Marine army.

From the Space Wolves Battleforce that I picked up a while back I was able to make 2 Grey Hunter squads, 1 scout squad and a drop pod (unassembled). With some extra bits I was able to make a Rune Priest to go along with them. I also had leftover from my old army a rhino, predator, vindicator, and a Land Raider. I decided for todays game that I would use the Pred as a second rhino. So, after adding up all the points, I was no where near the 1500 pts we had decided on for todays game at my friends house. So I went back to the bits box.

And lo and behold, I found part of a tac squad (on the sprue) and part of an old space wolves pack (on the sprue). After taking some time and looking over it all, I decided to make a Wolf Guard pack with the Wolf Claws, Frost Axes, and Thunder Hammers left over from the Battleforce. I also was able to make a Wolf Priest aswell, and found some old TH Terminators (one of which I am using as Arjac).

So here is the new list I came up with after assembling all those extra bits and bobs.

2x 9xman GH's-MG, WS, MotW-165pts (330pts)
2x Rhino's-35pts (70pts)
WP-Runic Armor-WTN, WTT, MB's 140pts
RP-LL, JotWW-100pts
Wolf Guard-10x man-Arjac, TH/SS, 2x Frost Axes, 4x WC's, 2x PF's/2x CM's-610pts
LRC-250pts

1500pts

Now I know I am not using the Vindi or the scouts and that all my eggs are basically in one basket (aka LRC) but I think the list will do fairly well. Today's game isn't a super competitive game at all, so Im not looking to win any trophies, just to have some fun and see what all this army can eat!

I will post up some of the highlights from the game and maybe try and nab some pics if my phone doesnt want to give me a fit.

Thunderwolves, HO!

So I just ordered a pack of these bad boys from mythicast.com to use as Thunderwolves for my slowly but surely growing Space Wolves army. I also ordered the Hero Promo Pack which includes "War Wolves" and "Wolf Minions" that I can use to make a Wolf Lord on Thunder Wolf Mount with two Fenrisian Wolves and an Iron Priest on Thunderwolf Mount with four cyber wolves. And by getting the Promo pack you save $10! I will post a full review on the models once I get my paws on em, pun intended.

Some painting

So here is what I have been working on.

The "keg" is actually from Michael's Craft Stores. They come in packs of two for 99c and they are in the woodcrafting section.

As for the models, I know I am not the best painter in the world but this is what I have settled on and am somewhat pleased with it.

First Post

This is just an intro. post. My names Nathan but I go by Kassill on most forums and websites. I play Warhammer 40000 and am a big Space Wolves fan. This blog will show my current and ongoing experiences with the hobby, whether it be gaming, painting, modeling, terrain, etc...
